Captivating Research and Education Programs in California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
Throop University was founded in 1891, located in Pasadena, California. Then in 1920 the name of university has changed into California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Caltech today is a house for 961 undergraduate students and 1,277 graduate students. Undergraduate and graduate are not the only programs offered by Caltech. They also have learning initiatives and online learning.
Education, research, and academic divisions are three main programs offered by Caltech. Under the academic divisions there are six different divisions which include Biology & Biological Engineering, Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Engineering & Applied Science, Geological & Planetary Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Physics, Mathematics & Astronomy.
Research Program of California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
- Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships Program
This program is called SURF. Experienced mentors are guiding SURF students so the entire students will experience research processes as activities of creative intellectual. Students of this program are going to be guided to define a project and develop the project from beginning to the end. At the end students are required to present the result at Seminar Day.
- Amgen Scholars Program
Those who are interested to pursuing M.D. and Ph.D. but not students of Caltech, this program provided by California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is allowing them to gain opportunities in conducting research about the things they’re desired in assorted fields including bio technical, chemistry, and biology. They will be guided by mentors.
- Exchange Programs
Caltech has Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships Exchange Programs. This program is developed by Caltech in order to broaden and enhance the undergraduate experiences of the students. The program here is providing chance for those students to try living in different culture. The program allows them to conduct research in different environment.
- WAVE Fellows Program
This program is going to increase underrepresented students’ participation in order to foster diversity. Caltech extended this WAVE Fellows Program to women, underrepresented minorities, first generation students, students who are geographically underrepresented, students who are disadvantages financially or educationally and even to students who have disability.
